Coffee Brewing Science
For SCAA 2013, Blossom Coffee is going to be doing something a little different. Instead of just showing off our prototype brewers, we’re going to roll up our sleeves, pull out a whiteboard, and talk coffee science with the community. We’ve seen some great strides forward in the last decade that have ushered in a third wave of quality, but our tools and understanding for coffee brewing are still in their early stages. Does a 19.5% extraction always taste best with your coffee? Do your wholesale accounts always brew your coffee right? Why does the flavor change when you change the temperature, or could additional stirring accomplish the same flavor profile?
The Blossom One Limited
When we set out to design our first product, we had one objective in mind: craft the finest coffee brewing machine ever made. We analyzed the science of coffee brewing from the grounds up and patented an all-new process that could independently control every variable that mattered. We turned our backs on existing coffee machine design, and instead took inspiration from sports cars, premium furniture, and the Bauhaus movement. We are committed to providing every customer with an exceptional level of personalized service and support, and will hand deliver every One Limited machine.
The Effect of Water on Coffee
We are asked pretty frequently what effect water has on the taste of coffee. There are many qualitative anecdotes indicating that water is highly important, but not much quantitative evidence. Maker Faire Recap
Congratulations to Make for doing such a great job with Maker Faire last weekend! Also, big thanks to Nick and the Hardware Meetup for providing the space for Blossom to demo our machine! We had a lot of fun brewing coffee for people and showing off Dev2. It was especially fun for us to experience the flavor potentials from the two beans we were brewing. One was the Puerto Rican beans we got from the nice folks at Gustos Coffee Company at the SCAA a couple weeks back; they’re mellow with low acid and well balanced bitter notes. The beans are I mean! Blossom at Maker Faire 2012!
Come find us in Booth #8019: Hardware Startup Showcase on Saturday 5/19 between 10am-8pm! We’ll be presenting alongside the Ninja Standing Desk and EroGear wearable LED displays, which will surely be a powerful combination of productivity, caffeination, and awesome visuals.
Maker Faire will be held at the San Mateo County Event Center (1346 Saratoga Dr., San Mateo, CA 94403). San Mateo is just south of San Francisco and north of Palo Alto, take the 101 and exit at Hillsdale Blvd.
Blossom Demo
Blossom will be explaining and demonstrating our Dev2 prototype at the Oregon Convention Center on Saturday 4/21 at 12:30pm in Room D133.
